What it looks like
Shooting » Shooting technique
How?
Shooting is what football is all about. And there are various techniques for doing it. Generally, assuming you’re using your feet, shooting involves shifting the whole body weight onto the non-kicking foot as all the other muscles in the body propel the kicking foot forward to strike the ball and then follow through. The force used and the angle and other things may vary, depending on where you’re standing, how fast you are moving and where the goalkeeper is standing.
Why?
“Scoring goals, obviously! This is usually done by strikers and midfielders, although it has been known for goals to be scored by defenders and even goalies at times, so everybody should practise the moves.”
Tips & drills
Improve your accuracy by going for particular parts of the goal, or using a smaller (say 5-aside) goal for target practice.
